Woodhall Hotel and Spa wedding photography – Elysia and Daniel

Well this is it, my last wedding of 2022 and what a fantastic one it was to finish the year on!

Earlier this Autumn I’d met up with Elysia and Daniel for their pre-wedding shoot and we got on so well. The three of us didn’t stop chatting the entire time and I knew that their wedding was going to be super laid back. They were both really looking forward to spending their day with all their guests and told me how excited their two boys were for the big day. Freddie and Cooper were Daniel’s Junior Best Men and looked so cute in their outfits!

Weddings at Woodhall Hotel and Spa

This was my third visit to Woodhall Hotel and Spa and I had been really looking forward to returning. It’s a fab country house venue in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Woodhall is perched on top of a hill so, as you can imagine, the views are just stunning. The historic manor house is surrounded by over 100 acres of amazing Yorkshire countryside and the location is idyllic. Even though it’s just a few miles from the A1 (handy for guests travelling to the wedding) you really feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere.

Daniel is a joiner and had actually done some work at Woodhall. After he and Elysia had got engaged he suggested it as a possible venue and, after visiting, Elysia fell in love with the place. They booked it on the spot and began planning their day. They are both so close to their family and friends and were keen to book me for my documentary style. They didn’t want to disappear for hours on end to pose for photos, they wanted to celebrate and spend time with their loved ones!

Relaxed Yorkshire wedding

I love the story of how Daniel and Elysia got together. Daniel was responsible for setting up Elysia’s sister Jade with his best mate Lee. This all happened 15 years ago, when Jade and Daniel were at school together. Seven years ago Lee (by now Elysia’s brother in law) reintroduced Elysia and Daniel and the rest is history!

As you can imagine both Jade and Lee had very important roles on the day. Jade was Elysia’s Maid of Honour while Lee was Best Man – alongside Freddie and Cooper.

After a beautiful ceremony it was time for everyone to congratulate the newly weds and enjoy some delicious canapes. With the rain looming all day we opted for more formal inside group photos but got lucky and returned outside for a little dry weather break between their main course and their desert to capture some couple photos in Woodhall’s beautiful gardens. Freddie and Cooper joined us for a few of pictures before running back to play with their cousins.

Documentary wedding photography at Woodhall Hotel and Spa

Elysia and Daniel’s day was filled with joy and laughter, I absolutely loved documenting it. Their wedding was all about celebrating with their family and friends which made for an excellent party! As always, I asked if they had any wedding advice for anyone who is in the midst of planning their day and they gave me this gem:

“Try to relax and don’t worry about the small details” Perfect!
