“Many thanks for being part of our big day yesterday and taking some wonderful photos!”
On Saturday I had the great pleasure of joining Eleanor and Alex in York as their Pavilion Hotel wedding photographer. I met them last year at a wedding fair in York. We arranged to have a coffee and got on straight away. I was really looking forward to their special day as it was my first time photographing a wedding at the Pavilion Hotel in York. Luckily the weather played its part too with beautiful early autumn sunshine.
Getting ready
I photographed Eleanor getting ready for the wedding together with her best friend and twin sister Elaine at their parent’s house in York. It was such a calm and intimate atmosphere. We even had time for a couple of family photos in their own garden. A friend picked them up in his old-timer Bentley which he drove to York all the way from Aberdeen!
The ceremony
Eleanor and Alex got married in the ceremony room at the York Pavilion Hotel. A good friend played the piano and the ceremony was accompanied by a reading of Alex’ dad and a self written poem by Eleanors’ father. How lovely!
The wedding reception
After the ceremony we all enjoyed the fountain courtyard in the sunshine for some drinks, congratulations, confetti and group photos. After that, the couple and I sneaked to another little courtyard round the back for some beautiful portraits. The delicious wedding breakfast was followed by heartfelt speeches, including a very funny one from Alex best woman Estelle!
I often try and break the couple photos in to two little sessions, rather than one big one. The couple and I had time for some more stunning portraits in the evening light before the evening guests arrived. The party was opened by the couple cutting their absolutely amazing sea themed cake and their first dance to a real classic: Iris, Goo Goo Dolls. I said my byes after one last night time portrait and let them party the night away amongst all their loved ones. I’m so glad they chose me as their York Pavilion Hotel wedding photographer.
The venue
The York Pavilion hotel is a historic and family run York wedding venue. It can host up to 120 guests and at the same time feels very intimate and cosy. With it’s various courtyards and beautiful flowers it gives plenty of choice for wedding photography backdrops. The hotel staff where super friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious. My next time Working as Pavilion Hotel wedding photographer will be in December for Kelly and Phil’s big day and I can’t wait.
