York wedding photography at St. Thomas’s church – Emilie and Jonny

The couple

Emilie and Jonny met at University in Cambridge through a big church where they were both put on the cooking rota together :)! Jonny proposed on their 5 year anniversary and I was lucky to photograph their lovely wedding on Saturday at their church in York.

The York wedding ceremony

St. Thomas’s church was filled with 150 wedding guests, all celebrating and praying for their love. The ceremony was led by their vicar Al and accompanied by an absolutely amazing church band and organ player. Some readings both in English and French by their family and friends made the wedding ceremony extra personal. It was wonderful to photograph them both leaving the church accompanied by big wedding cheers from all their family and friends.

After the ceremony

I was only booked to photograph the church part of the day. We came up with a photography filled plan to make sure we capture as many memories as possible within that timeframe. This meant, we cut the cake in the church for everyone to enjoy with their refreshments after the wedding ceremony. What a good idea! We did the group photographs outside in front of St. Thomas’s church and a big photo of all 150 wedding guests inside their York church. After a cup of tea I captured the wedding couple walking through the longest wedding confetti tunnel I had every seen. It was so much fun and I still found confetti in my hair the next day! After that Emilie, Jonny and I headed to a little nearby park next to York hospital for a few beautiful, autumnal couple photos.
